Many African countries are well positioned to compete for foreign direct investment with other developing countries in Asia and Latin America. Countries such as Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda and Tanzania have adopted prudent and coherent economic policies, with long term strategies. These strategies start with massive investments that are taking place in infrastructure development. From East to West Africa or North to South Africa - huge construction projects of hydro power plant, bridges, ports, road and railroads are being built by Chinese companies. And like what the Chinene and Indian governments have been doing in the past years, some African countries are now investing huge in human capacity. In addition, African countries are setting up special economic zones like those found in China and Asian with incredible incentives for potential investors. Many countries have strong political institutions and stability as well as active civil societies. All these tell us that the modern Africa has a new face.
